CCC Action Day (2) - Castle
Combe Circuit
14th June 2003
Six
days after the Bristol show saw us at Castle Combe again for the second
of the CCC Action Days. Once again we had our allocation of 12 free
entrance tickets and 6 free track passes. Nick Cook was brave enough to
take to the track again after his yellow card and "Black
Award" nomination from last time but this time without incident
(BORING). I joined Fearless Frank who decided that this was the ideal
way to "Run In" his new Crossflow engine h there are other
ways Frank.
Chris
Varey had the most eventful day when his Seight (featured on the front
cover of WW Jan/Feb) decided to break a weld, which meant he travelled
home on a hand throttle made of cable ties. Who said the entrepreneurial
spirit was dead!
Back on the track the inability of the general public to drive on a
circuit came to the fore when an accident stopped proceedings. We looked
up to see a large amount of dust in the air at Quarry corner with
ambulances and recovery vehicles leaving the pits, obviously a big
one. I never found out what exactly happened but the track
was closed for some whilst everything was sorted out. For once the
weather was superb and the afternoon, when you have to pay to get on the
track, saw us sitting around having a pint and enjoying the club
camaraderie.
